This division`s main initiative is the already-known Timisoara Viennese Ball. Established in 2012, the event is a social, educational and cultural initiative aiming at drawing together the local business community around a social project. Every year, the Timisoara Viennese Ball begins the season of Christmas celebrations in the city. Through the educational element, the BVT has already offered the opportunity to more than 1000 young people and children to be initiated in the art of ballroom dance. Thousands of disadvantaged children and adults at risk, included in the social programmes of the United Way Foundation, have benefited through the fundraising campaigns before and during the event.
Timisoara Viennese Ball was founded in 2012 as a charity event with the aim of gathering the local German-speaking business community together with the local businessmen in order to support a social cause.
Timisoara Viennese Ball is the 31st ball recognized worldwide by the City of Vienna and is organized under the High Patronage of the Embassy of Austria.
Among the 350 guests, there are ambassadors, member of the royal families, representatives of local institutions and foreign investors in Romanian, representatives of Vienna City Hall. Guests are also coming from Timisoara, Arad, Bucharest, but also far from Austria, Hungary, Germany and Switzerland.
A Cultural Event - the event has gained in prestige and is now considered one of the most important events on the cultural agenda of the City of Timișoara which manages to bring to Timișoara high-profile guests.
The artistic programme offers each year a diversity of artistic acts:
- the orchestra „The Spirit of Vienna” comes from the Austrian capital city especially for Timișoara Viennese Ball.
- special guests are well-known Romanian artists who sing on the greatest stages around the world
- a special section called „Rising Stars” is promoting the local artistic talent.
A Charitable Event – the money raised through the ball invitations and the adjacent activities support 700 children in need from Timișoara and the surrounding villages.
The charity partner of the event is the international organization, United Way, which also has an office in Timisoara. through their programmes, the United Ways helps children break away from the poverty circle through education, health and social integration.
An Educational Event - Each edition, in the run-up to the ball we run the „Academia BVT” where 150 young adults attend a series of seminars presented by high-profile mentors.
So far, more than 1,000 young people took part in the programme offered by the „Academia BVT”.
Moreover, 48 young persons and 33 children are selected as debutants and juniors dancers respectively, who take part at the artistic program of Timisoara Viennese Ball each year.
